Op "Teaching"imism

After reading some of my fellow student's posts and browsing the internet for articles on the future of teaching, one word stood out, Optimism. We must be optimistic when looking at our own future and the future of education. No, not all of us may have our own classrooms to teach in after we graduate or be part of this new movement to create formal positions for teachers in leadership roles resulting in more teachers being actively involved in administrative policies on education. However, who said teaching and promoting education had to take place in a classroom or on Capital Hill. Being a teacher is a title we earn and no one can take that title away from us. We can teach and advocate for education to our co-workers, our neighbors, our friends, our family and even someone we meet in line at the grocery store. What can we teach them you may ask? Well anything, things we've learned, things we've read about and even about optimism itself. The point is when you're a teacher no one can take that away from you and that is certainly something to be optimistic about.
